Which Disney character are you?

You are Jasmine!
You were born and raised a princess, which is great
but you can't help but wonder what happens
outside your palace walls. You are
adventurous and successful...not to mention
totally hot!

A trip down memory lane

The verdict is in

The second biopsy was in and it's nummular dermatitis/eczema.

http://www.emedicine.com/derm/topic298.htm

And the treatment for it is basically what I’ve been doing but the dermatologist thinks I may actually have been allergic to the two steroids I’ve used which may have escalated the whole thing. So now I have a new prescription for what she described as the most hypoallergenic steroid. I need to use it for two weeks and hopefully get some improvement. I also got a prescription for a stronger antihistamine. The rest of the recommendations are the standard for eczema, no bathing in hot water, only lukewarm or cool, aggressive moisturizing, keeping as hydrated as possible. I’m only supposed to use Cetaphil cleanser and I just picked up a natural non-allergenic detergent at the natural food store. And of course it’s recurrent and persistent and tends to come back in the same places. And I have to be careful not to scratch or get it irritated since it can easily become infected with staph infections. Also when this flare is over I'm also going to do patch testing for allergies. Aint I just the lucky one.

I was tagged

By Casey.

1.What were you doing 10 years ago?
Hmmmm, I was sitting in this same office at work but probably daydreaming about the fun Valentines evening I would have. I was very much in love with someone then who was not at all good for me.

3. Five snacks you enjoy:
Goldfish crackers, Sour cream & onion Lays Crisps, popcorn, chocolate and chocolate.

4. Five songs to which you know all the lyrics:
I don't know that I know all the lyrics to any song. I'm notoriously bad at remembering lyrics.

5. Five bad habits:
I binge eat when depressed, I bite my nails, I spend too much time online when I'm at work, I forget people's names after I'm introduced to them, I procrastinate when I don't want to do something.

Reading, shopping, web surfing, seeing a good movie, travel planning.

My iPod, my laptop, my digital camera, my DVR, my printer/scanner

9. Five people I want tagged…
Mel, Carolyn, Katrina, Tracey, Sonya (okay you've both already been tagged, but I'm running out of names, lol)

My little snow angel

On Wednesday they told us we'd get "flakes". On Thursday it was 5". Yesterday morning it was 6-12", by evening it was 10-16". This morning we had about a foot already and they said we could wind up with 12-20". I'm not sure how much is out there now, but Central Park measured 22.8", the biggest snowfall in the city since 1947. And Mr. B couldn't wait to get out there into it. He kept asking me yesterday when the snow was going to start. He woke me this morning by telling me "I love lots of snow". He harassed me until I finally gave in around 10:00 when it was still coming down hard to take him out. He had a blast!! He made snow angels, he threw himself into snowdrifts, he tried throwing snowballs (snow was too fluffy to make good ones). He even wanted to take a long walk in it. Okay, you say par for the course for a 3 year old. But this is the same child last year who refused to touch snow and who made me carry him because he wouldn't even walk on it in boots. I hate the snow, but it was great to see him having so much fun it.

Edited to add - Final total in Central Park was 26.9", the most snow ever recorded in NYC.

The latest installment

In the continuing rash saga. I went back to the dermatologist this afternoon to get the results of the biopsy I had of the rash two weeks ago and to get the stitch out. I get there and the doctor tells me that the lab was unable to do the culture, that either they lost the tissue she removed or she screwed up when she placed it in the speciment container, and that she needs to do a new biopsy. Uh, maybe someone could have called and told me that so I wouldn't have had to wait two weeks to find out? I asked her if they could rush this one since I have to wait another two weeks, that would be four weeks from when she did the first biopsy and I've had this rash now since before Christmas. She said she'd ask them to expedite it and hopes they'd have the results back next Thursday. So now I have another stitch and I'm still using the super duper adrenal gland busting steroid since another patch or two of rash erupts every day.

Anyone want to lay odds on the results? I'm thinking -

2:1 Atypical eczema
4:1 Contact dermatitis (but just on this one arm)
1:1 An unknown allergy - with a referral to the allergist

And as an aside, at least Brendan's most current incarnation of croup seems to have abated and he just has a regular cold now. At least something positive.

Tips for the day

Mom tip - Squeezable jam is easier to spread than squeezable jelly.

Kid tip - Don't try and stand on the edge of the tub and the lean back and slide down the side of the tub onto the floor. You will wind up in time out in your room even when you tell your Mommy that you can't go into time out because you're wet. Your Mommy will claim that you could fall and crack your head open but she just doesn't want to let you have fun.
